New spam filter

Oh, and I’m researching a different spam filter that I’ll be implementing in the next few days.

The Wedding Slideshow

I recently created a slideshow for a coworker’s wedding. It had 300 pictures and clips from 13 different songs in it. I scanned in at least 200 of those pictures, rotated them, cropped them, and resized them. Then I sequenced them according to the layout the bride gave me, put the music into the movie, and rendered it all. It would have been easy enough if the slideshow were just being played on a PC, but it was being played on a Mac, so I had to convert it to a .mov file to make sure the Mac would play it correctly.

If you want me to create a wedding slideshow for you, contact me by clicking here.

Unfortunate Akismet Issues and Beats Per Minute

First, the Akismet issues. The plugin is telling me I have five bad messages, but it’s only display two of them. The only option in the plugin is to “delete all messages”. I can’t view the other three messages to see if they are valid or not. I deactivated the plugin, and now all of the messages are gone. *sigh*
You can see more about Akismet problems at Mike Little’s Journalized.

Now…the good stuff :) :D Beats Per Minute Analyzer! It’s free software from MixMeister DJ Mixing Software. I originally found the link to it at four0four.net which is Mat Walker’s website. This wonderful software will help you analyze beats in your mp3 files, which is useful for… oh… say…. StepMania :) Now, I didn’t read the documentation for the software as I found it pretty self-explanatory. After you drag-and-drop an mp3 file onto the software, make sure you use the reanalyze button on the toolbar to get the accurate BPM for the song. After you get the accurate BPM, you can plug it into StepMania and step your songs to the correct beat. The software also offers the possibility of adding the BPM to the ID3 tags of the mp3 file for future reference.

I have the flu, which SUCKS. :(

Unofficial WMF Patch

CNET News, in one of its latest stories, interviews Ilfak Guilfanov about his patch for a screwup in Microsoft’s security. Knowing Microsoft, THEIR patch will probably only be available to people who have registered Windows or some such bull. Thank goodness for third parties.

Using Akismet now…

Alright people! I’m using the Akismet spam filter now. Because of this, I’m willing to let the blog be slightly more open in regards to comments.

People who have posted on my blog will still be required to put in their name and e-mail, but they can add as many comments as they want.

People who have never posted on my blog still have to have their first comment approved, but after that they can comment away as many times as they want on any post. It’s just the very first comment ever that needs to be approved.

I don’t believe in censorship of opinion. You can write anything you want on my blog. The one thing that I don’t want, though, is for some service to think my website is spam. In light of that, if I see lots of references to drugs that assist procreation, or uses of cursewords (this is a semi-civil discussion area, ladies and gentlemen! feel free to flame others, though, even me!), I will have to edit ONLY THOSE WORDS out of your post. I may even hold your post and keep it from being published until I can edit those words out of it. If you post a comment, and don’t see it appear immediately, it’s because either somebody thought you were spam, you used wirty dords, or you haven’t posted your first post on my website yet.

If I do have to edit your post, you will see something like this in place of the word:
The “F” word: [moderator:procreate]
Procreation substances: [moderator:child assistance]

Also, I will e-mail you and tell you why your post didn’t appear immediately.

Understand? Enjoy :)
